Alanya WOW Turkey
|
Buying Alanya property is certainly heading for a
revival with the recent news of Gazipasa airport set to open this year (mid
2008). One thing is for sure it will certainly chop the lengthy transfer time
to a speedy 30 minutes which can be very appealing to young families and the
elderly. However, there are many fans of Alanya out there who have been happily
visiting year in, year out regardless of the 90 minute drive. One thing this
stretch of coastline has got that beats more familiar resorts hands down is the
wonderful golden sand blue flag beaches … wide, soft and plenty of it (think
Florida)!
Personally, for me I find the sea a bit cantankerous
around this area … and sorry for being a traditionalist at heart … but I do
love the British pound £. Which was no where to be seen… As you walk by the
pavement cafes, bars, restaurants and shops all you see is Euro, Euro and even
more Euro! I think I've been a bit spoilt in other resorts where the British
have dominance. I'll warn you… not in Alanya. If you pull out the sterling they
look at you as if you're holding Martian currency. Here you have the firm
stomping ground of the Dutch, Scandinavian and German contingent…. Bit further
down the coast to Mahmutlar then you do find the Irish have a strong community
there. The other drawback with Euro land is that it's more expensive for dining
out and shopping! Isn't it strange how resorts develop … I find they all have
their little peculiarities … some Turkish resorts are full of heart … generous
… after meal freebies … that leave you feeling all yummy inside and
ssssssspecial! Strangely, Alanya has managed to evolve without having to
over-pamper the tourists! If you're a Celt … with soul … then sidetrack
downtown Alanya.
In many of the shops (you know the little ones where
you can barter a deal) I found they wouldn't even have a little haggle … What!
We're in Turkey not b….. Tokyo! Sorry, I had to get that off my chest … Alanya
has gone a little bit tooooooo Euroooooopean in the hub. But … these are my
personal opinions and I'm comparing poor old Alanya with oodles of other
Turkish resorts. If you were to visit for your first time to Turkey … you would
think she was absolutely stunning … and wouldn't know what you were missing
elsewhere. Okay, enough of what she hasn't got …. Here are the reasons why
everyone does return to this popular Turkish resort:
She's got a super assortment of shops … buzzing
nightlife (around 1000 restaurants!) … plenty of room on the beaches … great
year round cheap direct charter flights … a few degrees hotter in the winter …
less prone to earthquake … breathtaking ancient archaeological sites nearby…
plenty of bananas… and some very well priced Turkish property! Yes… especially
if you're not oppose to high rise living (there's a lot of that down this way
as this area does not have the building height restrictions of other Turkish
resorts). All Alanya property goes up up and up, which is great if you're after
low budget apartment deals! Venture a little up coast to Oba/Mahmutlar/Avsallar/Demirtas….
And you can buy a sea view property near the beach for a bargain price. Here
Turkish property prices are still hot … but the closer we get to Gazipasa
airport opening and all that will change. You've still got a chance to buy a
sizzling investment pad… and in this neck of the Turkish woods when it comes to
selling … you've got a wide web of our Euro friends to target too!
Though remember if you love the cute sugar cube
feeling that sprawls the Bodrum peninsula stay clear you'll only find them on
your saucer or if you're prone to a little vert-i-go … you know where-to-go and
it ain't Alanya!
