Antique Market, Ayranci

Everything is changing too fast nowadays. Maybe that is the reason our longing to antiques. Antiques are always mysterious. Looking through a mirror of 60-70 years old whose owners may have died long ago, lifting up the cover of a centennial chest, touching the keys of an old typewriter may take you to a trip to past. You should visit the Antika Pazarı set on the first Sunday of every month if you want to listen to the music rising from a gramophone.

Antika Pazarı (Antique Market) cheers-up Elçi Sokak of Yukarı Ayrancı first Sunday of every month . The shopkeepers of Çıkrıkçılar Yokuşu and Gaziosmanpaşa (GOP), the antique sellers, and the tradesmen from Anatolia exhibit their goods on 120 stands. Although this tented place has once been established a food market by the Municipality, is now a perfect place for antique lovers.

The ones who are interested in old and antique objects, happy to see everything together at the same time. You can find anything from jewels to furniture, from Turkish artworks to gravures, even copper pans. In addition, you get help for repairs and the restoration of your belongings. You are lucky that most of the shopkeepers speak some English. An excellent place to visit for a colorful and different Sunday.

By the way, you may be surprised by the quiet atmosphere in contrast to Pazar, which helps you to wander around and do some peaceful shopping.

What if you get hungry? No problem! You have various alternatives such as gözleme and köfte (meatballs). In winter the hot wine you are going to sip sure will warm you up.

Nowadays, the tradesmen are complaining about the decrease in stocks due to the demand and interest to the old goods and antiques. Therefore we suggest you to hurry up not to miss the goods you wish to purchase.
