Wooden furniture produced by Greek, Ottoman, Armenian and Syriac masters is carrying the best examples of woodwork. Although it is getting harder to find such pieces it is possible to meet rare pieces on some antique shops. Don't forget to bargain when purchasing an antique and if you plan to take the object abroad learn your legal obligations for it is forbidden to take away some pieces out of Turkey borders. Therefore please note that: Explicit authorization is needed for the purchase and/or removal of Turkish antiquities and other cultural artifacts. A receipt and the official "museum export certificate" are needed to legally export such an item.

Pirinç Han
Located on the outskirts of the Ankara Castle; Pirinc Han was a historical inn
for the travelers of ancient times. Restored in mid 80s, place still gives that
old taste of history. There are 25 shops within the place, specialized in different
types of antiquities. Also, if you get hungry, the famous gözleme shop will
serve your taste buds.
Antique shops around Castle
A well-known and frequently visited place among the antiques buffs. Located
around the Ankara Castle, about 75 shops ranging from well organized
to run-down ones, offer antiques from carpets and kilims to copper goods. As
you go through this area, you will also have the chance to see old Ankara houses.Don't
miss the famous Koyun Pazarı Yokuşu (the oldest trade center of Ankara),
Bakırcılar Carşısı (Copper Alley at Salman street) with a wide variety
of gift and copper & brass goods stores and Baharatçılar Carşısı
(an open air spice market just outside the main entry of the Castle) for different
and hard to find spices, herbs and dried fruits.
Antique shops at Gaziosmanpaşa
A number of antique shops are spread around Gaziosmanpaşa and Kavaklıdere. They
display various kinds of antiques and accessories. Some of these places are
also successful in replicas. Uğurlu Antique Passage, located in the basement
of a building, next to Kuğulu Park (Swan
Park), serves its customers with five stores.
