At the Bookstore & Stationery Shop

Untitled Document There are many well-known bookstores and chain-bookstores throughout the city that are sure to meet your demand for reading material (in English, French and German). If you are in need of stationery and office supplies you would be best to find a local Kırtasiye (Stationery stores) . They are scattered throughout most neighborhoods or head to the larger office superstore listed below. Additionally almost all supermarkets have stationery departments. When you see those stands are widened and increased in variation be sure you are in September, the school time. Office 1 Superstore has by far the widest selection of office materials and they also sell computers, fax machines, printers, and all computer related products and software, as well as office furniture.

Dünya Aktüel Kitabevi, D&R and Remzi Kitabevi are the largest bookstore chains.

In Turkish, second hand booksellers are called Sahaf. The largest Sahaf market is located in Beyazrt, between the Covered Bazaar and main building of Istanbul University. They sell old books, magazines and post cards. The Sahaf span among the narrow streets at Kadıköy as well.

All major bookstores have Internet sites but unfortunately they are in Turkish. "mymerhaba" will advise its members when their English version will be on-line.
