Ayaspaşa Rus Lokantası
by Zeyda ÜstünAyaspaşa Russian Restaurant is located on the left corner as soon as you pass the Bus companies on the way to Gümüşsuyu from Taksim and has been in service since 1943. You reach the restaurant with a few steps down and I enjoy the smell of spirit that welcomes you. It is a cozy place with its clothed tables and chairs and secret illumination.
The menu is composed of Russian, French and Turkish cuisine. Besides stroganoff and Kievski, pork limb, filet mignon or şiş kebap are among the varieties. The wine menu is not very rich and mostly consists of Turkish wine. However I strongly recommend you drink Sarı Vodka (Yellow Vodka). Sarı Vodka, which is served in cold carafes and small goblets, is the specialty of White Russians who came Istanbul during the World War 1.
The waiters have been working here for many years and clarify you on the menu.
They don't stand near by however always ready for your call. Last time we went
there it was 22:20 and they met us with pleasure. The waiters kindly indicated
that they can prepare anything on the menu not only us but to the new customers
arriving later than us. Most restaurants meet you with limited menus by saying
"We are sorry our kitchen is closed or our cook has already left"
when you drop at 22:00. This beautiful site has one default, that is its a little
bit low ceiling. I wish you joyous meals at this restaurant, which you can go
with your family or with your visitors.
Note: Drink Sarı Votka carefully!!!!
