Thanks to Borahan for sharing his views with us.
Tell us about yourself
Hi, my name is Borahan, a 26 year old Turkish guy who lives in Istanbul and looking forward to meet new friends from all around the world. 10 years ago from now, I started to work in the tourism industry and while studying Tourism at Istanbul University I was working for one of the best hotel chain – Hilton-. Yes I worked at Hilton Istanbul front office for more than 6 years and than I positioned as a Front Office Manager in one of another 5 star hotel in Cyprus. After a lovely 15 months period there I resigned from the Tourism Industry and started to manage my own business which is in Istanbul. Last two years I have been working for myself and may have much more free time as well. So as a retired tourism professional I would love to share my knowledge about the Turkish culture and by the way I would like to improve my English language skills and learning more about other cultures of the world. Also 2 months ago I started to learn Italian and if I meet someone who speaks Italian it should be very nice for me. So the final thing I would like to say about my self is, I am a guy who has respect the people who came Istanbul from the other countries and I would be very happy to meet them and sharing the beautiful side of our huge culture.
What do you do in your daily life?
In my daily life, every day I work in my own shop which is close to the Taksim Square. I have a car and a motorcycle which I love to ride especially in the spring and the summer time. I study Italian language and I try to graduate from a University as a second diploma. Also I am an amateur musician and I play drum for many years. Sports activities is the key of my life and at least 4-5 days of a week I make kickbox and fitness trainings. And please do not forget my books… I love reading and writing
Family ?
Yes I have a very nice family and I live with them but I am not married.
Have you traveled in Turkey? Tell us your discoveries
Hmm…, I had been in Antalya and Bodrum as the south part of Turkey, which is really touristic. In Antalya if you go to Kemer ( a part of Antalya ) sometimes it should be very difficult to see people who speaks Turkish, it is really nice and interesting. I had been in Erdek, Balikesir, Edirne (there is a very big and beautiful Islamic Mosk in Edirne ). And my favorite city is The Beautiful İzmir… It is really a very beautiful city. I always want to go there again and again.
What was the annoying characteristic trait of Turks?
We all the human being and we can easily find good or the bad ones from any nationality. For me the most important thing is to respect people whatever they do and whatever they think with the democratic borders. I never like to compare people with their nationalities and because of their histories. So I think the world’s problem is to love the money more then everything.
Turkish Cuisine?
Ohhh Turkish cuisine imay be very very dangerous if you have weight problems, but if not be sure that you will feel lucky because of this.
Any suggestion to people planning to visit your region
My only suggestion is, please do not see Turkey as only İstanbul, if you really want to understand and see the real Turkish culture you must visit the Anatolian cities. And do not forget to take your camera with you
