Denizli - Hierapolis

Denizli known famously with Hierapolis, Castle of Cotton, textile and the croc is my favorite city to discover the ancient civilizations in BC times.

The Frontinus street and gate is the symbol of victory in Hierapolis. The victory gates are a lot in Europe however the same concept in Anatolia region is telling us that the area was ruled by many civilizations.  The official protection of the region is hosting the tourists for sightseeing.

When I walked in Hierapolis till the Archeology museum I felt the spirit of the ancient times and how people realized the holly land which was believed to be the place of Godesses worshiped for God. That is the uniqueness of the province brought till today. So the World Heritage List comprises Hierapolis with these qualities. The 3 arc Frontinus gate with a rare door is peers of the ancient street. The columns alongside the street is reserving areas for people. The information about Frigya civilization is on boards. 

Just ahead of the road there is the Archelogy museum for sculptures. You are amazed inside the museum with these ancient pieces. Sculptures of various personalities from that time is on display. The hand-made graves informs the respect to leading people of society.

The gold pieces are small objects as daily belongings. That is to say holly land was given luxury by civilizations.

The Castle of Cotton which is the white, natural area with thermal hot water makes the area holly. When ancient civilizations invaded the area, they knew that they conquered a precious land so they constructed the victory gate and the street.

I am proud of my home-town Denizli. I lived in Denizli for 2 years. Since I am the grand grand-daughter of Denizli Mawlawi Sheik Hasan Ali Dede, I have special attention to my home-town. I advice trips to region. UNESCO recognized the holly region Denizli with unique province Hierapolis. The history about Hierapolis is from centuries ago. The books say that the textile materials from these holly soil is so quality that merchants of Denizli was trading their products to Roman Empire. The color of textile does not change but keeps its quality for years. Buldan home textile is the biggest asset of city.

Denizli is a leading city from the ancient civilizations.
