Dried fruit shop

 Small shops called Kuruyemişçi are found throughout town and in each neighborhood. This is a shop that sells nuts and other candies. Kuruyemiş translates as "Dried Fruit" but actually refers to peanuts, sunflower seeds, dried almond and nuts, parched chickpeas etc. and has a very important place in the daily life of Turks. You may meet people of different age eating "Ayçekirdeği" (sunflower seed) in the parks or on the streets or even on the walls or stairs of apartments. Moreover, Turks have created a verb as çitlemek just for sunflower seed; this is because while biting the seed a sound like "çit"(cheet) is heard. A more interesting thing is that Turks sometimes call Kuruyemiş as eğlencelik (for amusement)

Kuruyemiş always accompany alcoholic beverages and make a perfect accompaniment when watching television. Kuruyemiş are found everwhere. Most of the nuts and seed are sold by the gram so you can buy whatever quantity, large or small that you desire. Kuruyemis shops, at the streets by pedlars, at special stands in supermarkets. They are sold in wrapped packages in markets but it is up to you how much to buy you want at the shops. Kuruyemiş shops sell different kinds of tea and coffee, fruit and herbal tea, biscuits, chocolates, ice cream, Turkish delight, various candies and refreshments, besides local and imported Kuruyemiş.

If you cannot protect your coolness it will take only a few minutes to empty your wallet in a Kuruyemiş shop!
