Untitled Document Istanbul is hosting western classical (baroque, romantic, etc) choirs that you can join. Here are some of them:

CORISTANBUL
A very good acappella choir of 12-15 people, mostly Turkish but there are members from USA, Canada and New Zealand. It can be hard work at times, but good.  You have to be ready and able to learn one or two pieces a week on your own: They don't start from scratch in the rehearsals.
Practice: Thursday 20:00 to 22:30 plus one Saturday afteroon  in a month
Where: Maçka (near Nişantaşı and Beşiktaş).

GALATA CHAMBER CHOIR
A surprisingly relaxed but surprisingly good small acappella choir that sings a wide range of European classical & baroque music, with a tendency towards the Italian.
Audition: none, but must be able to sing.
Practice: Wednesday 19:30 to 22:00 or 22:30, plus a coffee and cake break
Where: Galata

ISTANBUL EUROPEAN CHOIR
A choral society basically. A large choir of 100-120 that sings major pieces in 3 or 4 pairs of concerts each year. Not too challenging and a good way to meet lots of people. This choir you have to pay for, around 150 TL per year.
Audition: sing a few notes, a bit of music: can you basically sing?
Practice: Tuesday 19:15 to 22:00 (?) plus one Saturday afternoon a month.
