Thanks to Harry for sharing his experience in Turkey with us.
Tell us about yourself
I am an accountant / finance - and my office is in London - I own an apartment
in Antalya - I visit three to four times a year
What made you come to Turkey?
First as a tourist
What do you do in your daily life?
At present I have joined class to learn Turkish four hours a day for a month
- not easy - then
Family?
I am not married.
Can you compare your first days here with today?
I loved it during my first few days - now I still like it but I need to improve
my Turkish and it is not easy.
Has living in Turkey influenced your approach to life?
Yes as I look to see what is happening in London and a round the world.
Turkish language?
Not easy - but I think it is a must to learn it - and I am not doing well
Let's talk about the region you are living in?
The sea, the mountain, the history and the ones between
Have you traveled in Turkey? Tell us your discoveries
Istanbul, you must visit at some point - Ankara, the capital city, you have
a feel that it is a large town than a city - Konya, if you go there you should
be modest in your clothing, very nice people and large industrial town - if
you have time go by road - there are so much to see in the small towns.
What is your preferred characteristic trait of Turks?
They smile.
What was the annoying one?
They persist - (in shops). I stopped buying - ( I am still buying food though!)
Turkish Cuisine?
Turkish food is wonderful with many kinds - many small restaurants with family
tradition but tourist area the food is no good and expensive
Any suggestion to new comers to Turkey?
If visiting as tourist then just enjoy the time - if you are coming to live
you will need a lot of patients - listen a lot - and move slowly - make as many
contacts as you can - -
Any suggestion to people planning to visit your region?
Antalya is a region but also a town - reasonably safe - a mix of tourist and
normal places - Antalya the town is very nice - the local council is spending
lots of money in improving roads-schools-the beach - many new very large hotels
- but it is getting more expensive as the months and years goes by.

My name is Naomi and I am an English lady living with my Moroccan husband in Antalya. I would love to meet some English people who also live in Antalya and would be grateful for any advice on how to contact them. I spend most of my time here visiting the horse club where my husband is a farrier and horse trainer (I love to ride) and oil painting , reading and writing some prose are my hobbies. I am 43 years old and have three children who live in the UK.
Regards,
Naomi
