Thanks to Iben Olsen of Denmark for this interview.
Tell us about yourself
I am a 35 years old woman from Denmark, I am married and I have 2 big children
- a boy 15 and a girl 13½.
I was living on a small Island called Bornholm in the south of Sweden. I'm a
schoolteacher and I have worked at the same school for 5 years. It's a little
school for students between 13 -18 years who are not suitable to the normal
schools.
What made you come to Turkey?
I have lived at the country site and I have lived on the island all my life
and since summer 1988 I have live in my house. We have a small farm as a hobby
and we have 2 horses, 2 cows and a lot of chicken and dogs. My island is a popular
tourist place for German and Swedish tourists.
In January 2004 I should go on school trip to Alanya, I had never been there before and the idea with the trip was to show the students different kinds of living.
I was totally in love with Turkey so I decided to go down again in April alone and look for apartment because I had here they where very cheap.
Spring 2003 I was buying a house in Sweden at a skiing place so it was interesting for me to look for houses in Alanya. In April I found my apartment and since I have been to Alanya many times.
Can you compare your first days here with today?
I just love turkey and the way people live they are very free and warm. I love
the climate because Denmark is very cold and wet in the wintertime.
Last year I tried to learn Turkish but its not easy, next year I hope I can
spent more time in Alanya and maybe live there is my dream.
