Internet in Turkey

We are all obsessed with internet in this century.  We all want to stay connected to the unlimited world called Internet.  When you are at your home, or in a different city in your country, you don’t worry much about how you are connected as there are plenty of options. But, things are different when you step out side of your country. So, in this article you will find basic survival steps of staying connected in Turkey.

Turkey is one of the most Wi-Fi  country. You can find a free wi-fi even if you visit a small shop. All you going to need is the SSID and password. After that you can start Tweeting about Turkey or your Turkish coffee.

Buying simcard is another solution to stay connected over your smartphone.  We recommend buying simcards, if voice calls are important and if you are staying more then a few weeks. Otherwise you get bored with paperworks, choosing data plans etc. After buying a simcard, don’t feel safe, because you have to face a new challenge called “IMEI number registration”. Yes, you heard right, if you want to use your own smartphone or tablet, or any device has IMEI number, in Turkey, you have to register your IMEI number by government due to laws. After an initial period, your device will be blocked to Turkish Sim Cards until registered. Registering costs about €40 and needs paperwork process to be completed. We recommend registering if you frequently visit Turkey or live in Turkey.

Are you already bored of these steps? A 3rd option, which we think is the best, and more efficient way to stay connected in Turkey.

Mobile hotspot rental by Rent ‘n Connect. Yes, basically you can rent a hotspot device with unlimited mobile data plan from Rent ‘n Connect. Or even rent a Tablet (they call it Digital Guide) comes with unlimited 3G data plan and pre-loaded apps.  The prices start from €5,99 per day (30% off applies for rentals of 7 days or more) and you will get unlimited 3G internet during your use (same for theDigital Guide).  They deliver everywhere in Turkey prior to your arrival. Means, after reaching your hotel, your pocket sized mobile hotspot will be waiting for you at your hotel’s reception. You can rent yours at Rent ‘n Connect
