Could you tell me about yourself?
I studied elementary and junior high school in Ankara Koleji, and finished high
school in a private school in İstanbul. Then I graduated from "Devlet Güzel
Sanatlar Akademisi" (State Fine Arts Academy) where I majored in sculpture. Several years later I
did an art management master as a guest student in a University in
İstanbul. My interests are painting, decoration, reading, writing, literature,
cooking, cars and driving, travelling and seeing new places, meeting new people,
psychology and books on that subject, etc.
When did your passion for art begin and what is your education on that?
My passion for art began when I was a child when my curiosity started about
the esthetic characteristics of the houses I visited, decoration and little
details. It continued during my school years as started to draw, and going to
the "Guzel Sanatlar Akademi" (Academy of Fine Arts) was always my
goal. At the end I finished that school and became a sculptress, but my passion
for decoration and painting continued to grow. I did some amateur work. Then
I got married and I only engaged in arts as a pleasure.
Why painting and poetry, why is the connection between the two?
Painting is one of my passions; poetry is my passion when I am not able to paint.
The two of them are not dependent.
Are you interested in other fields of art?
Literature and decoration are two of my other interest. I read and write a lot.
My first book is about to be finished.
How do you write your poems? When and why?
I write my poems when I feel love and sadness. There are always dedicated to
someone; time is indefinite. Sometimes I wake up with the lines on the tip of
my tongue and I continue to write right away. Sometimes a word I hear or a music
I hear makes an association.
What sort of painting do you work on?
I work expressionist-realist combined together. Some of my paintings carry some
abstract flavor.
Which subject gives you more inspiration or attracts your attention, Do
you repeat yourself?
The most important subject that attracts my attention is love, then the sea
and its depth, and sadness. Sometimes I repeat myself because love too repeats
itself.
What material do you use?
I use pieces of paper in my collages, watercolors and oil paint in my paintings.
I do my oil painting using a spatula and my hands.
Being a woman artist.... what kind of difficulties do you face?
In Turkey I guess all of the artist face difficulties. My greatest handicap
was to be away from the art practice for long years.
What did art gained to your life? You were a housewife for many years...
I chose to be a wife and mother. This choice ensured me to stay away from art
for long years. Later, when I started again, I was proud of myself, I regained
my talent and I loved myself again.
Have you held an exhibition before?
I held two exhibitions; one in Istanbul and one in Ankara.
Your projects?
My biggest project - my wish actually -, to be a famous and liked painter, and
that the book that I wrote get printed.
