Kartalkaya

Untitled Document Kartalkaya ski resort is located southeast of Bolu, in the North west of Turkey in the picturesque pine forests of Köroğlu mountains. It is midway between Istanbul and Ankara, and just a three-hour drive from each city.

Kartalkaya lacks the nightlife of Uludağ however it is regarded as having better slopes and great powder snow. The slopes are long and offer great runs for skiers and snowboarders alike. It also has much shorter queues for the lifts.
The weather is not always friendly, and fog is a relatively common problem. If you drive up to the resort, make sure you use snow chains. For both winter sports enthusiasts and those who just enjoy walking in beautiful surroundings, Kartalkaya is perfect. Here is nature at its wildest, combined with all the comforts of civilization.

The skiing area of Kartalkaya is 1800-2221 meters (7300 ft) high and the most suitable skiing conditions are between December 20th and March 20th. This center has suitable conditions for Alpine skiing, ski touring, and cross-country skiing and it is equipped with 3 chairlifts and 7 T-bars. Qualified skiing instructors and equipment for hire are available. The slopes and mechanical equipment are under surveillance of experts. All hotels have first aid facilities and medically trained personnel. Accommodations can be booked directly.

The average snowfall is 3 meters in normal winter conditions. At the beginning of the season the type of snow is "powdery" and at the end of the season the snow characteristic is slightly "slushy".

Note : In foggy conditions it is essential not to wander outside the marked slopes
