Hi Lisa,
I am arriving in Istanbul from Melbourne in Feb. Turkey is an amazing place and I´m sure you will like it there. I would wait until you are there to look for a language course. I did a course in Melbourne but didn´t get much from it as I am not speaking Turkish everyday to anyone as my partner is in Istanbul. You may experience some culture shock but I am sure you will really like it! If you would like to get in touch email me at Foreignfistik@hotmail.co.uk and we can chat more if you like.

Hi Lisa,
You´re right about the limited availability of Turkish language courses in Sydney. I am recently back from Turkey myself after spending a year there with my Turkish wife. At this stage I may be moving back there in March next year to rejoin her and wanted also to try and continue Turkish after spending 6 months studying the language over there. I do have some great language books and CDs etc and would be happy to get you started with the language if you like, not that I´m an expert! Turkey is a wonderful place as are the people. If you go there with an open mind and accept things as they are both good and bad then it will be far easier to adapt. and you will love it. Turkish life is very different to that in Oz and visa versa, but it also has opportunities and experiences that we don´t have here and will really change your life and outlook, so I really think you´ll love it as I do.
Cheers
Gary
