Here are the interview questions:
Tell us about yourself
I'm Italian, 36 years old man from Rome. I worked as cost analyst in an Italian fashion company producing most of all shirts. I like practice swimming, football tennis and running and any sport let me stay outdoor. I like read thriller books my preferred writer is Ken Follet. I like friendship and see new places and discover new cultures.
What made you come to Turkey?
Love...my wife is Turkish and I moved since last year here in Istanbul. It was the main reason but very important point is that I traveled at least 4-5 times in Istanbul and other towns before, here in Turkey, and they have been always so exciting and beautiful discovers of places and beautiful persons.
What do you do in your daily life?
I'm still studying Turkish even if now I learned enough; I had some job experiences, in the past that filled me the day quite completely because the distance was huge to reach the place of work. Now I'm spending most of time with my little dog bringing her in the parks near my house and giving Italian lesson. Then on Wednesday unmissing football match with people coming from all over the world.
Family?
I'm married with Turkish woman
Can you compare your first days here with today?
Well the main obstacle was not able to speak with people and it was of course a huge barrier to know them. About transportation too was very hard move and know new places with these strange names but now I can be as guide. It was more easy than I thought be Istanbul citizen.
Has living in Turkey influenced your approach to life?
Well a little bit, I'm really worried how much life hasn't same meaning we consider in Europe. 1st of all of course about pedestrians they are really considered not human I think and it's so bad. About hospitals there are so many patients that doctors cannot give right care so they must keep their pain. And definitely here life is less important than we consider in Europe. About me I have same thought but living here I must keep herd behaviour.
Turkish language?
So hard after 1 year I can speak but hard to understand who speaks to me if he speaks fast, but I'm learning it by myself.
Let's talk about the region you are living in?
I'm living in Istanbul, Beşiktaş, it's quite chaotic but around me there are 2 parks very well run so that near there are bars to take çay and it makes me feel to stay in a little town. The name of place is Abbassağa buildings are so close each other and people seems as farmer honestly but as them so friendly and for me all so new that seems as be in holiday, they remember me Italy of 70's.
Have you traveled in Turkey? Tell us your discoveries
I visited Samsun one of the main town in the Black Sea region it's a port and not so small town famous cause from there Ataturk 'the father of modern Turkey' started is revolution. It's the town of pide, the best pide you can eat there and of hamsi (anchovy).
Ölüdeniz with his blue lagoon and world capital of paragliding I think. The best seaside place I have ever seen.
İzmir right size for a town right population open minded most European town of turkey, near seaside and full of amazing little town ports around.
What is your preferred characteristic trait of Turks?
Friendly, if you loose be sure they will help you 100% to find the way.
What was the annoying one?
Some traditions sometime boring and close mind ...sometime. -
Turkish Cuisine?
I tried quite all of course I hadn' choice :) baklava (so sweet cake), ciğ boek, pide, gözleme, durum kebab, good but I'm Italian...the best cuisine..
Any suggestion to new comers to Turkey?
Choose well the place to live, and if you like sport don't worry here in TV so much sport but if you like practice bicycle forget it :)
Any suggestion to people planning to visit your region?
Try to live not as tourist this means really make experience and know culture.
