One of the most popular universities, located on the European side of the
Bosphorus. It is a private, nonprofit institution, founded in 1993. The University
is supported by the financial resources of the Vehbi Koç Foundation, set up
by Vehbi Koç, a leading Turkish businessman. The campus is located at Rumeli
Feneri at 62-acre site, close to the city but far removed from the bewilderment
of city life. The medium of instruction is English. Students who are not proficient
in English are required to enroll in the language program offered by the university's
language center. Undergraduate students can also select a second foreign language
of their choice. The available options at the time being are French, German,
Italian and Russian languages. Koç University offers various scholarships based
on merit and need.

Sabancı University (Sabancı Üniversitesi)
Located on the Asian side of Istanbul, the newest and the most challenging
university Sabancı University one of the most preferred universities in Turkey
and started its first academic year in 1999. The academic activities operate
within the framework of three faculties. The medium of communication at the
university is English. Therefore students need to achieve a certain level of
language proficiency. All Sabancı University undergraduates are required to
take the Sabancı University Language Assessment Exam. Students who pass the
language exam can start the undergraduate programs.

One of the most popular Turkish Universities, with one of the largest campuses.
Bilkent University, one of the most reputable universities of the country, was
founded in 1984 as a foundation university by Prof. Dr. İhsan Doğramacı, former
rector of Ankara University and founder and rector of Hacettepe University.
Last year 37 of the top 100 students preferred Bilkent. The university includes
an academic staff from 43 different countries.

Çankaya University is a foundation university established in 1997.
Courses are in English except in the Law Faculty. Students with an insufficient
English language level attend English Preparatory class.
