Pepper Steak at Niki

Marco Polo
Marco Polo is located at Hilton Hotel, Kavaklıdere and serves dinner only between 19:00 and 23:00. It has a capacity of 180 customers and the food is international cuisine. "Steak with pepper sauce" is the specialty and is cooked right in front of you. Maydonoz çorbası (parsley soup), nohutlu mantı (mantı with chickpea) and Halep style kebap are also among the favorites. The menu is updated every three months. Austrian Wolfgang Gold has been the chef since the opening of the hotel in1988. Marco Polo has witnessed several marriage proposals with its wooden decor, crystal glasses and silverware. A pianist and a violinist play live music from 20:00 on. The menu also features 150 kinds of wine. Also, Marco Polo has a private hall for groups of 25.

Kalbur
Mehmet & Bilen Tekmen opened Kalbur at Or-An in 1990. It is almost impossible to find the food Kalbur offers anywhere else in Turkey. All food is made of seafood: Grilled meatballs, içli köfte, pastırma, sucuk, tandır, kokoreç, and stuffed leaves. Mr. Mehmet describes Kalbur as "somewhere between a restaurant and a meyhane" It has a capacity of 45 people, so reservation is a must one week in advance. It is open every day between 12:00 and 24:00.

Mezzaluna
Florentine architect Roberto Magris decorated Mezzaluna, which offers 13 kinds of macaroni and 25 kinds of pizza. The pizzas is baked in a wood-burning oven and served in five minutes. The chef is Italian Daniel Evangelista. Italian products such as Neapolitan salami, Parma and Cotto ham and mozzarella are used on the pizzas. It is open every day between 12:00 and 24:00 and has two branches in Ankara: Bilkent and Kavaklıdere.

Trilye
Trilye is located in a green garden in Gaziosmanpaşa and has a capacity of 120 customers. Any fish caught in Turkish seas are served here; you can even find live oyster daily. Trilye uses the healthy cooking methods of Far Eastern cuisine, yet the classical tastes of Turkish cuisine are not ignored. It is open every day between 08:30 and 02:30.

Niki
This cozy place is in Kavaklıdere and is famous for its Mediterranean cuisine. It has a capacity of 50 and has a veranda open only in summer. They offer Sangria, which is their own production, to all customers. It is open every day except Sunday between 12:00 and 24:00.

Merkez Lokantası
Located at Atatürk Orman Çiftliği, it is the oldest restaurant in Ankara, founded by Atatürk in 1933. It has an indoor capacity of 224, while the garden can host 350 customers. It offers su böreği everyday except Sunday and Talaş Böreği on Sunday. It is famous for its traditional Turkish food such as haricot beans along with its grills. It is open every day between 12:00 and 24:00.

L'Angoletto
The Italian Restaurant at the Sheraton Hotel & Convention Center, Kavaklıdere was renovated and re-opened its doors in January 2005. It has three VIP rooms. The menu, prepared with the benefit of the Sheraton Hotel chain's experience in Italy, is made up entirely of selections from both Northern Italian and Southern Italian cuisine. A special gourmet menu will also be offered in due course. It is open every day, except Sunday, between 19:00 and 23:00.

Budakaltı
Budakaltı carries the name of the street it is located on. It is one of the four-story houses with a garden in Gaziosmanpaşa. The menu offers a synthesis of Italian and Turkish cuisines. Warm almond and chicken salad and fried cheese balls with rocket are the favorite foods. The garden has 50-year old pine and linden trees and, depending on the season, the garden is enriched with roses, ivy, begonias, snowdrops and hortensias. It is open every day between 10:00 and 24:00.

Kale Washington
Located at Ankara Citadel, Kale Washington offers a panoramic view of the whole of Ankara. The restaurant, made from two 400-year old Ankara houses, hosts 200 customers in summer and 120 customers in winter. The upper floor is in service in winter only. It is famous for its seven kinds of food with olive oil, which differ according to the season. It is open every day between 09:30 and 24:00.

Wok
Wok Restaurant is located in Gaziosmanpaşa. There is a sushi bar alongside the Far East cuisine. The upper floor of this two-story restaurant is more like a café. The big tables on the first floor are ideal for business meetings. Quiet music is played. At the beginning of dinner, house music accompanies and the night continues with electronic jazz music. It is open every day between 12:00 and 24:00. It closes at 02:00 on the weekend.
