Second-hand Clothing Stores

 Untitled Document

Second-hand clothing stores are where you can find famous brands and where you can rent dresses which you wouldn't think of buying.

The second-hand clothing stores, selected by the jury of the daily Hürriyet newspaper, are mostly located in Istanbul. Some of them sell only clothes of certain eras while some sell worn-only-once clothes of famous brands. Some stores dry-clean all the garments on display, but in some you have dive into piles of clothes to find a proper one.

The jury is composed of fashion writers, writers of the newspaper's shopping corners and admirers of second-hand clothing. They determined the best second-hand clothing stores in March 2004.

Portobella
Portobella is located in Cihangir and sells handmade bedspreads and table clothes in addition to seasonal clothing. The clothes are from Europe, America, the Far East and Africa. After they are mended and dry-cleaned they are either rented or sold. It is possible to find famous brands such as Gucci and Armani.

Avantgardeast
It is located at Galatasaray, and 2000 pieces are on display. The clothes are from New York and Paris and are mostly from the 60s and 70s. Trousers and T-shirts are the favorites. The garments are mended and dry-cleaned beforehand.

Roxy
Roxy is in Aznavur Arcade in Galatarsaray and offers around 100 second-hand clothes. The garments are from the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and England and are mostly from the 60s and 70s. As soon as they arrive, the clothes are sent for dry-cleaning. Some interesting garments are for rent upon request.

Ve Saire
Ve Saire Boutique is in Feneryolu and also sells seasonal clothing. Some of the clothes brought from Europe and America have been worn only once. There are some designs worn by models at fashion shows. You can find creations of Channel, Armani and Gucci for very low prices. The new clothes bear white labels while the mended and dry-cleaned second hand clothes bear yellow labels.

Küf
Küf is the only second-hand clothing store in Izmir and is located at Alsancak. The designs of famous brands decorate the showcase. It is possible to find second-hand clothes, bags, shoes and accessories made by Escada, Armani, Vercase, Ferre, Donna Karan, Vakko, Beymen, Mango and Zara. There are 5000 pieces and every day new products arrive.

Pala
Pala is on the second floor of Çukurhan across from the Istanbul Ticaret University in Eminönü. In addition to second-hand clothing, the store displays every kind of old goods. Some of the clothes are on hangers while some of them are piled in the rooms on the upper floor. It is an old building and as such the garments have been affected by the damp. However, if you are sharp-eyed, you will find very beautiful pieces. If you are interested in old military clothes, Pala is the address.

Kahve6
The store is in Cihangir and also serves as a café. Second hand clothes of the 60s and 70s are on display. You can also rent the ones you like on a daily basis. The clothes of famous designers are usually sold on the day they arrive at the store. The garments are mended and dry-cleaned before being sold.

Berna
Products of famous designers are on sale at this store, which is located in Harbiye. There are 5000 pieces including clothes, shoes, bags and accessories. Products made by Gucci, Versace, Moschino and Lacoste are very cheap. If you want to catch a good brand, you should check in every day, because the products are found one by one and may be sold immediately.

Eskici
Eskici is in Aznavur Arcade in Galatasaray and offers 300 second-hand garments. The most popular ones are coats made of leather, suede and velvet. The store is 9 years old. The goods are from wholesalers collecting second hand garments. Half of the clothes are from abroad. All garments are mended. Rentals are also available.

Herşey 2. El
Herşey 2. El is located in Kadıköy and mostly the clothing is of current fashion. The clothes are usually left by people living nearby, and it is possible to find good ones. There are also old objects besides clothes.
