Sophie Calle at SSM

Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM) will be hosting internationally acclaimed, French photographer  Sophie Calle’s exhibition, which is focused on people from Istanbul.

The thee-part exhibition is entitled “Son Kez, İlk Kez” (Last Time, First Time). In the “Last Time” Calle presents a group of people who were born blind or lost their sight and the last thing they saw.  The “First Time” is  a video installation composed of Istanbulites who encounter with the sea for the first time.

Calle invites visitors to think about the different dimensions of “seeing”  which we don’t think about or  questioning its existence.

The exhibition can be visited between September 17 and December 31, 2011.

Visiting hours: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday - 10:00 - 18:00.  Wednesday 10:00 to 20:00. Closed on Monday. Please note the Museum is closed on the first day of the Sacrifice Feast (Kurban Bayramı) Holiday.
