This Weekend in Ankara

December 15-17, 2017

Gökyay Foundation Chess Museum (Satranç Müzesi) in Altındağ, Ankara is hosting " New Year Concert" with  two stars: World famous jazz vocalist Yıldız Ibhraimova and Burak Karaağaç (contrabass). The concert will take  place on Saturday at 17:00. The artists will perform  a wide range of  repertoire from ethnic music, improvisation to classical jazz.
Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Bruno Mantovani will perform at Bilkent Concert Hall on Saturday at 20:00. Soloist: Xavier de Maistre (harp).  Program: R. Schumann, A. Ginastera. Free transportation is available from and to Tunus Street via National Library, Armada AVM, Kentpark bus stop one hour prior to concert time and after the concert.

Ayça Mutluer& Esra Poyrazoğlu violin and piano recital will take place at  Mozarthaus, Kavaklıdere on Saturday at 20:00. Program: J. Brahms, S. Prokofiev.  Tickets can be purchased through Biletix. Kennedy Caddesi 4, Kavaklıdere.

World-famous pianist Cyprien Katsaris  will perform at Podium Hall on Saturday at 20:00. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) conducted by Antonio Pirolli, will perform on Friday at 20.00 Soloist: Sevcan Aydın (viola), Ulaş Yurtoğlu (oboe), Asude Karayavuz(mezzo soprano). Program: J.C. Bach, J.S. Bach.

Ankara State Opera and Ballet  will perform Sultan Murat IV, three-act opera , at Opera Sahnesi on Saturday at 20:00.

Studio Masterpiece offers 3 hours of art, music and fun, which you paint, listen to music, have new friends. Even if you never paint you will be the artist and will have your own oil-painting works which you can hang at home or office or give your friends as a gift. Balkan Night with Mahalle Beşlisi band will take place at Nazım Hikmet Cultural Center at Kızılay on Saturday at 20:00. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

As part of XXF - A Very Very French Festival, dOP (DJ SET) will take place at Pixel on Saturday at 23:00. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Seksendört  will perform at  If Performance Hall, Kavaklıdere on Friday at 22:00.Live performance of POPeye will take place at 00:30. Dolu Kadehi Ters Tut band will be on stage  on Saturday at 22:00. Fresh will take stage at 00:30.

Jolly Joker Ankara is hosting Duman on Friday at 22:00 and Gökhan Tepe  on  Saturday at 22:00.

Selami Şahin will take stage at Hayal Kahvesi on Friday at 23:00. Serkan Kaya will take stage on Saturday at 23:30.

ArtOda at Müze Evliyagil is hosting its first archive exhibition "Legendary Creatures - Efsanevi Yaratıklar". Curator: Erdal Duman.  The exhibition is a drop in the ocean when the whole artistic adventure that İlhan Koman had on the triangle of Istanbul-Paris-Stockholm, is considered. The sculpture that the exhibition focuses on and that was once located at the Seğmenler Park, is just a small sample of a series of works in the broad perspective of Koman's creativity.  For more information please click.

Aqua Vega, the biggest aquarium in Turkey, can be visited  at Nata Vega Outlet between 11:00 and 21:00.

The first technology museum in Ankara is Çengelhan Rahmi Koç Museum. The collection contains hundreds of items from miniatures to full size boats and vehicles. It is worth to pay a visit on the weekend.
