This Weekend in Istanbul

September 21-23, 2018

Istanbul Coffee Festival will take place at KüçükÇiftlik Park, Dolmabahçe on September 20-23, 2018. İstanbul Coffee Festival is established with the thought to support coffee culture and provide a place for meeting of people who are interested in coffee.  The global coffee, machine manufacturer brands, coffee shops, farms, farm associations, importers, traders, manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, scouts, retailers, coffee bars, chocolate brands and qualified small artisans will meet visitors at the festival with a new generation of coffee flavors. The 5th edition of the festival also includes workshops, meeting with masters of the sector,  shopping, live music, DJ performances, art exhibitions and more. Contemporary Istanbul, the leading international art fair in Turkey,  celebrates its 13th Anniversary at Lütfi Kırdar Istanbul Convention and Exhibition Center (ICEC) and Istanbul Congress Center (ICC)  on September 20-23, 2018.

The 4th Istanbul Design Biennial organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) will be held between  September 22 and November 4, 2018 and is free of charge.

Organized with the support of Municipality of Şişli Nişantaşı Street Festival will take place at Maçka Sanat Park on September 21 -23. The festival includes yoga, meditation, ThaiChi,  various street tastes, food stands, designers, workshops, play ground for children, dj and live performances, and chats. Moda is hosting 'Potlaç' women' s labor market of Kadıköy Municipality established to strengthen solidarity and production network between women. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 - 22:00 the women will exhibit their handicrafts including jewellery, knitting, ceramics, glass and wood-works and more. 39 stands opened behind Moda Family Tea Garden (Aile Çay Bahçesi) will be used alternately by approximately 80 women and women's organizations. Potlaç Moda Sales Area will remain open until November. 

This weekend at Hodjapasa Cultural Center:
Hodjapasha Culture Center, 540 year old former Turkish Bath in Istanbul will be hosting Rhythm of the Dance show and  Sema ceremony by Istanbul Dervishes on the weekend.Show times:
Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 19:00 - Sema Ceremony by Istanbul Dervishes
Saturday at 21:00 - Rhythm of the Dance (Dansın Ritmi) show.For online tickets please click.

Classical
As part of Turkcell Platinum Istanbul Night Flight concert series, historical Hagia Eirene museum is hosting world-famous French pianist David Fray on September 22 at 21:00. Program: Mozart, Schubert. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Sigiswald Kuijken (violin, violoncello da spalla) & Marie Kuijken (harpsichord) will perform J.S. Bach' solo violoncello suites at Summer Festival at Bachçe on Saturday at 20:30.

Jazz
Nardis Jazz Club, Galata is hosting Achille Succi Band on Friday at 22:30. Ece Göksu Quartet will take stage  on  Saturday at 22:30.

Spanish jazz musician Cecilia Krull  will perform at Salon IKSV on Friday at 22:00 and Saturday at 22:30.

Pop, Rock, Ethnic & Alternative
Zorlu PSM is hosting "fizy Istanbul Music Week" on the weekend. With its rich program, the festival will host and meets stars, young artists and many other names together. Athena, Kenan Doğulu, Emre Altuğ, Ayhan Sicimoğlu are among the stars taking stage. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Beyoğlu Jolly Joker is hosting Sancak on Friday at 22:00. Mehmet Erdem will take stage on Saturday at 22:00.

Vega  is at If Performance stage in Beşiktaş on Friday at 22:00. Turkish edits - Jan will perform at  00:30 on Friday. Hey! Douglas  will take stage on Saturday at 22:00. DJ performance of Kerem Eriş  is at 00:30.

Melek Mosso  will take stage at Dorock XL, Beşiktaş  on  Friday at 22:30. Mirkelam  will perform on Saturday at 22:30.

Koray Avcı  will be at Beyrut Performance stage on Friday at 22:00. İlyas Yalçıntaş will perform on Saturday at 22:00.

Yaşar  is at If Performance stage in Ataşehir on Friday at 22:00. DJ performance will begin at  00:30 both on Friday and Saturday. Ümit Besen & Pamela  will take stage on Saturday at 22:00.

Nev will perform at Kadıköy Sahne on Friday at 22:00. Feridun Düzağaç will take stage on Saturday at 22:00.

Fatma Turgut  will take stage at Moda Kayıkhane on Friday at 22:30. With their music and shows extending well beyond the borders of Turkey, Ayhan Sicimoğlu & Latin All Stars will take stage at on Saturday at 22:30. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Rahmi M. Koç Museum is organizing Educational Workshops for children on the historic M.V. Fenerbahçe on Saturdays. Sponsored by Faber Castell, each week the workshop focuses on one of a range of subjects, consisting of painting, energy, astronomy, cinema, navigation, sculpture, puppets and drama. Experts and artists are invited as guests to some of these workshops. Children ages 9-13  can participate "Robotic Designs  Workshop" on Saturday at 13:00. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Kanyon shopping mall  is hosting Lego Festival for  children age group 1 and 14 on September 15-30, 2018. Lego lovers will have the opportunity to play at four different play grounds every day between12:00 and 19:00.

Lego Ninjago: ages 7-14

Kidzania at Acıbadem AkAsya Shopping Mall,  kids will learn about earning money by working, making their own decisions, shopping. Shortly, they can experience being an adult in a real city. Sessions: 10:00 and 15:30.

Trump shopping mall is hosting  KidzMondo, (the first Kids’ City of Turkey). Children ages between 4-14 can work in 40 different professions  and earn money. They enter the city via airport and select a profession and start to work. Sessions: Friday at 15:00, Saturday and Sunday at 10:00 and 15:30.

Gayrettepe Metro Station is hosting "Dialogue in Silence Istanbul" . Dialogue in Silence is an experience in total silence where participants discover a repertoire of non-verbal expression with the help of deaf and hearing impaired guides and trainers. Participants enter an area of complete silence wearing noise-cancelling headsets, and experience an environment that helps them discover openness, empathy and an enhanced power of concentration. ”. Dialogue in Silence enables a dialogue between hearing and non-hearing people while re-defining disability as ability. Visiting hours: 10:00-19:00. Duration 60 minutes.

Gayrettepe Metro Station is hosting “Dialogue in the Dark Istanbul”,  which offers you an incredible experience to understand daily life of blind people.  The concept of Dialogue in the Dark is simple: visitors are lead by blind guides in groups through specially constructed dark rooms in which scent, sound, wind, temperature and texture convey the characteristics of daily environments – for example a park, a city, a boat cruise or a bar. The daily routines become a new experience. Over the last twenty years Dialogue in the Dark has been presented in more than 30 countries and 130 cities throughout the world since its opening in 1988.  English tours:  Friday at 18:00, Saturday at 14:00, 16:00 and 18:00, Sunday at 14:00 and 16:00.

Gayrettepe Metro Station is also hosting “Turkcell Football in the Dark”, an exhibition and workshop to explore the unseen.  Football in the Dark offers the players an incredible experience to understand the daily life of blind people. The participants will also support Blind Football. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix. Time:  Saturday  10:00-19:00, Sunday 12:00-19:00 (with 30-minute intervals).

Jurassic Land at Forum İstanbul Shopping Mall, attracts the attention of all age groups with its museum, 3D theater, laboratory where visitors both learn and have fun, show garden and  shop that is selling special dinosaur concept objects. Weekend visiting hours – 10:00-20:00.

Snowpark in Haramidere Torium AVM is offering Snow Tubing with nine courses and Snow Rafting with 135-meter-long ski-run.

Vialand Theme Park, Eyüp is open between 11:00 and 20:00 on the weekend.

Istanbul Aquarium, Florya can be visited everyday between 10:00 and 20:00.
