Trekking in Ankara

With its mountainous characteristics, Turkey has ideal places for trekking. Several travel agencies organize trekking tours to various small districts, mountain villages and plateaux.
Doğa Araştırmaları Sporları Kurtarma Derneği - DASK (Nature Sports Association) in Ankara also organizes trekking tours. The aim of the tours is to let people love nature. Trekking Routes around Ankara
Beypazarı -Karaşar - Eğrioba Göleti - Mahya Hil
Mahya Hill is 150 km away from Ankara and the 8 km route has an average difficulty
rating. The lake is suitable for fishing. The nearest shopping spot is Karaşar.
The route between Eğrioba pond and the hill is a thick forest.
Güdül - Sorgun Yayla ve Göleti
It is 125 km away from Ankara and the lake is suitable for fishing. The route
between the Sorgun plateau and the surrounding hills is 6 km long and is good
for trekking. The picnic area is wooded and it is suggested you shop in Yeşilöz
before heading to Sorgun.
Otacı - Kagöl Geçişi
An 8 km trekking route in a forest beginning at Otacı village in the Kızılcıhamam
Pazar district and ending at Çubuk-Karagöl. Shopping can be done at Kazan district.
Kızılcıhamam - Soğuksu National Park
The park is woodland with a beautiful view, and the 8 km route within the park
is suitable for trekking. Picnic areas are also available.
Güvenç - Gölet ve Sürsefa piny
A trekking and picnic area where neo-tethys ocean floor fossils can be clearly
observed. Turn right into Güvenç village before arriving Kazan district.
Kızılcıhamam - Çukurca Köyü- Yumrutepe
Çukurca village is 100 km away from Ankara. Turn right from Kızılcahamam. While
you are there, visit the village mosque with its plate minaret and interesting
embellishments. The trekking route is 7km long.
Kızılcıhamam - Yıldırımören Köyü- Geyikovası Sivritepe
It is 100 km. away from Ankara. Most of the village names in the area begin
with "Yıldırım", for Ottoman Sultan Yıldırım Bayezid had once camped
there. The route is 12 km long.
Kızılcıhamam - Eğerlibaşköyü- Kaletepe Köyü
It is 100 km away from the city center. The lake amidst the villages is suitable
for fishing. Kaletepe has a 7 km trekking route in woodland and has a beautiful
panorama.
Kızılcahamam - Kızılcaören Köyüve Örentepe
It is 80km away from Ankara. You can climb the woody area on the left of the
road and walk down from the valley; it is 11 km long.
Aktaş-I Vadisi - Çamkoru Göleti
It is about 120 km away from the city center. The route is 7 km long. Don't
forget to bring your own food.
Gürleyik Vadisi (Mihalıcak)
You walk in the valley along a route which is mostly near the creek. It takes
about 3 to 3.5 hours to complete the route. Güleyik valley has some spots suitable
for swimming, so take your swimsuits with you in summer or early fall.
Sipahiler Yaylası
The woodland around the Sipahiler Valley has a trekking route, which takes 5.5
hours.
