Winter Sports in Turkey

Turkey is usually known for its hot sunny Mediterranean coasts, swimming, sun bathing and water sports, however it is also ski paradise for those who'd like skiing, snowboarding and of course enjoying with snow. Much of Turkey is mountainous, and many regions have cooler climates than the major resort areas.

Winter sport resorts in Turkey are generally located in forested mountains of average height. With many of these peaks experiencing snow cover for as much as six months or more, the potential for skiing here is very great. Turkey can offer great opportunities for both serious skiers and beginners alike, at much better value than most of the better-known winter sports resorts. For those who like a more adventurous approach, those resorts could be the places for you. They offer great skiing, good accommodation and great Turkish food, in a much quieter environment than many of their competitors.

There are many resorts in Turkey, so the ones we mentioned are simply the more popular ones. The ski and winter sport centers are easily accessible by highways or by Turkish Airlines domestic flights. There are many more small resorts and no doubt many more will be developed over the coming years. If you want to experience skiing how it used to be, then Turkey could be just the place.
