Winter with Jamaiican/English Dub Extroadinaire - The Mad Professor.
|
I am in my early thirties and currently work for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. I was born in Sydney Australia and my parents moved back to Turkey 11 years ago.. I guess largely because they couldn't forget their home/roots.
What made you come to Turkey?
Well I'm not in Turkey quite yet but intent to head over next year and work
for a few years. My dream is to work for the BBC, but I thought it might also
be exciting and enriching to spend time in Turkey first and of course my parents.
What do you do in your daily life?
At the moment my time is basically spent working, hanging out with friends and
spending lots of time with my dog and cat.
Family?
Yes I have brothers and sisters in Sydney and my parents are in Denizli. I am
currently happily single.
Can you compare your first days in Turkey with today?
I've spent short spurts of time in Turkey over the years but would really enjoy
spending a chunk of time exploring and discovering my roots.
Has living in Turkey influenced your approach to life?
No I can't say it really has, although I am thankful for my Australian passport
and the opportunities and lifestyle here.
Turkish language?
Yes I speak limited Turkish at the moment, but the funny thing is after spending
a couple of weeks in Turkey, this invisible doorway opens - and all these Turkish
words come flying out from the deep recesses of my mind.. Turkish was my first
language.
Let's talk about the region you are planning to live in?
Well I am hoping to move to Ankara and land a gig with TRT or BBC World Service.
Have you traveled in Turkey? Tell us your discoveries.
Just the usual touristy type spots, Antalya, Mersin, Bodrum etc etc
What is your preferred characteristic trait of Turks?
The Hospitality
What was the annoying one?
The men, why oh why? They are awfully sleazy in some parts and some instances.
Turkish Cuisine?
Love it in fact I have been working in Darwin (Northern Territory) and believe
it or not.. there is NOT one Turkish restaurant.. so my dreams are filled with
Pide, Döner, Pilaf, Tarhana Soup.
