Zanzibar, although an island country in Africa it is the name of a café restaurant in Istanbul where delicious meals are served. It has two branches in Istanbul one at Teşvikiye the other located in a three-storied 19th century kiosk overlooking the sea at Caddebostan.
I had lunch in both sites and I prefer Caddebostan. Teşvikiye Zanzibar is at Milli Reasürans Çarşısı and more crowded and noisy and the average age is 20-25 (Am I getting older and preferring quiet sites??) The menu is rich and satisfactory. The decoration is chick and classy. The Naples patented pizzas taste beyond the ones we are used to. The other dishes and salads besides pizza are also very delicious and you spend some time to choose what to eat.
The portions are filling and I suggest you choose only one dish; it can be sautéed chicken salad with soy sauce or a main dish such as tournedos Zanzibar with wine sauce. I strongly suggest you reserve a place in your stomach for dessert. Profiterol with ice cream filling and warm chocolate sauce is superb.
During summer the garden at the seaside is at the service of the customers. The site is expensive and the price per person varies between 35-45 million according to the wine you select. Credit cards are welcome. Reservation is required for a windowsill table and during weekends. It is open everyday, except Mondays, between 10:00-24:00 and car parking is no problem.
