Gift Shops

Everybody wishes to select a present for their family, friends and other loved ones and finding the right address is always important. The jury formed by the daily "Hürriyet" newspaper, each of whom is a shopping expert, have chosen the best gift stores in Turkey. Unusual objects, handicrafts, wooden statues and glass designs are all to be found in the Top 10 list.

Paşabahçe
Paşabahçe is the oldest manufacturer of glass in Turkey and serves everyone with its price and quality. Paşabahçe has 26 stores in 9 cities. Design has recently gained more importance in Paşabahçe works and every season new collections are created and put onto the market. The objects bearing motifs from Anatolian civilizations and from the Ottoman Empire are ideal for presents. The Maslak store has almost ten thousand kinds of glass objects. It is open everyday from 10:00 to 22:00.

Mudo Concept
Maslak Mudo Concept is located in a 4.000 sq.mt. area and provides about ten thousand kinds of articles. Among the favorites are picture frames, artificial flowers, red goblets specially designed for New Year's, candlesticks, jewelry boxes, shaded lamps and New Year's ornaments. The objects are imported from 23 different countries. It is normally open everyday from 10:00 to 20:30, however to accommodate New Year's shopping, Mudo Concept is open until 22:00.

Porof. Zihni Sinir Merkezi
Caricaturist İrfan Sayar began to draw on a small corner on the back of the weekly Gırgır Magazine in the 1970s. Today, İrfan Sayar's shop in Taksim hosts more than 60 unexpected products such as a vertical chess board, clogs leaving reverse footprints, notebooks with a flashlight and a comb for the bald. It is open everyday except Sunday from 09:00 to 19:00.

Harmoni
Nilgün Özsaruhan founded Harmoni in Alsancak-Izmir 21 years ago and sells furniture and giftware. Harmoni has two branches in Çeşme. 80% of the products are imported from Italy, France and Spain. French chine coffee sets and serving accessories are among the most preferred gifts. It is open everyday from 09:30 to 20:30.

Poseidon
Poseidon was founded in Atlas Pasajı, one of the famous arcades in Beyoğlu, eight years ago. There are one thousand objects, most of which are imported from Indonesia. Masks, small animal statues, night lamps, dragons, Indian and abstract female figures, compass roses and incenses, candles and lanterns are worth considering. It is open everyday from 09:00 to 21:00.

Can Süs
Can Süs has been among the most indispensable stores in Eminönü-Tahtakale for 20 years. 90% of the objects are imported. The favorite products of November and December are the plastic pine trees and pine branches they manufacture. Can Süs is an honorary member of the TEMA Foundation since it saves real pine trees from being cut. There are more than three thousand objects. It is open everyday from 08:30 to 21:00.

Pi
Pi is a stunning designer's store founded at Nişantaşı in 2000. There are more than 100 articles varying from mozzarella and Parmesan cutters to coffee tables and mirrors. The favorites are small accessories for offices. Also among the favorites are kitchen accessories, illumination devices, wall and table clocks, wooden or ceramic picture frames and fruit plates. Pi has a branch at the Karum shopping mall in Ankara. It is open everyday from 10:30 to 19:00.

Baraca
Although opened only ten months ago, Baraca has customers all over the world. One thousand objects are exported to several countries, including India and Japan. Foreign customers are mostly interested in Turkish motifs on silk, Ottoman Sultans' signatures and portraits of Sultans. Every object in Baraca is unique and handmade. It is open every day except Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00.

Deli Kızın Yeri
Linda Caldwell first founded Deli Kızın Yeri in Arnavutköy in 1998. The Kapalıçarşı branch houses 492 kinds of objects. Greeting cards with oya (a kind of Turkish embroidery) are the cheapest and small shawls embellished with Turkish motifs are the most expensive products in the store. It is worth visiting and one of the spots where foreign officials visit during their stays in Istanbul.

Dilara's
Interior decorator Mehmet Dölek founded Dilara's in Adana, one of the most popular gift shops with its 300 articles. Murano glasses, crystal fruit plates, table cloths, wooden and gold leaf picture frames, mirrors, lamps with shades, clocks, gold plated carafes and candlesticks are among the most preferred goods. It is open every day, except Sunday, from 09:00 to 20:00.
