Semester Activities 2012

The two-week semester vacation at primary and high schools began on January 20, 2012. Several organizations offer activities including colorful shows, musical plays and workshops for these dates.  Following is the list of workshops and shows, most of which is taking place in Istanbul:
 
WORKSHOPS
Cam Ocağı (Glass Furnace)
Fusing : In this 30 min. activity the parent and the child make a 30x30 cm. glass tile together. The cost of the activity is 30 TL.
Beadmaking: The parent and the child try to shape the glass and make colourful beads. This activity is 30 min. long and costs 30 TL.
Glassblowing: While the parent is blowing glass ball, the  child will assist him/her in this 30 min. activity.

Istanbul Toy Museum
Istanbul Toy Museum offers development-oriented workshops for children.  
Saturday, January 21: “I made it for Mom” (design workshop)
Saturday, January 28: “I made it for Papa” (design workshop)
Saturday, February 4: Meeting the famous painter Hüsamettin Koçan (painting workshop)

Istanbul Modern
İstanbul Modern has prepared a fun program full of art for 7-12 year-olds during the semester break between January 23 and February 3, 2012. The workshops offer children a different activity every day with practices that not only include disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, animation, installation, and performance art, but from the domains of literature and architecture as well. The workshops are in Turkish.

Culinary Arts Academy (Mutfak Sanatları Akademisi-MSA)
January 30 – February 2, 2012 / 10:00-13:00 – The course will be available for 14 junior chefs of ages 5-9. Junior Gourmets can attend class with a parent if desired. During the entire course, besides MSA’s master chefs, the junior gourmets will also be assisted by an instructor from Kids Kindergarten.

Atlantis is organizing free workshops for children during the semester vacation. Each day a different workshop both educates and entertains the children. The workshops include toy making with re-cycled products, cooking and many more.
Space and Science World: Recently open center aims to attract the attention of students for scientific works and space. The center offers several shows organized by NASA and other great scientific centers in the world. Detailed information with  3-D simulations in the depth of space, and on Black Holes, Oasis in Space, Milky way, planets will both educate and entertain the children.
