This Weekend in Istanbul

Museum Week activities:
Pera Museum will be open and free for visitors until midnight on Saturday.
17:00-20:00 Happy Hour and DJ Yabancıdeğil
20:00-21:00 Concert: Halimden Konan Anlar
21:15-22:30 Concert: Bora Çeliker Quartet
22:30-24:00 Dj Yabancıdeğil
Istanbul Modern is open until 22:00 on Friday and free admission.
Istanbul Archeology Museum is free on Friday between 19:00 and 23:00.
Sakıp Sabancı Museum is free for everyone on Friday. The museum will be open until 22:00 on Saturday and free for students. Sabancı University jazz ensemble Sujazz will perform in the garden on Saturday between 15:00 and 16:00. The performance of rock music ensemble Shuffle will take place at 16:00-17:00.

1st  Istanbul International Improv Festival continues with various performances at Beyoğlu Termina.

The 18th Istanbul Theater Festival, organized by Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) continues on the weekend.

Films at Pera Museum:
“Oh! What a Lovely War” films:
Sunday at 14:00 – The Spanish Earth
Sunday at 15:00 – For Whom the Bells Tool
“Goya on Screen” films:
Saturday at 12:00 - Goya: Mini-Series Part 3 and 4

Some scenes for the latest James Bond film “Skyfall” are filmed in Eminönü, one of Istanbul’s busiest and most crowded neighborhoods. Starting April 16, Eminönü will be closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for three weeks. The shops may be open however there will not be any sales. The shooting will continue until May 6.  Mısır Çarşısı (Egyptian Bazaar), Yeni Camii (New Mosque), Old Post Office, Sultanhamam,  Balat and the Grand Bazaar is turned into a natural film platform.

Disney Live! Mickey’s Music Festival continues  at Trump Towers Mall, Mecidiyeköy on the weekend. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix. Show times: Friday at 15:00 and 19:00. Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 and 18:00.

Circus Eurasia is at Avrasya Circus Tent, Halkalı. Show times:
Friday: 20:30, Saturday and Sunday: 13:30, and 20:30.

Jurassic Land at Forum İstanbul Shopping Mall, attracts the attention of all age groups with its museum, 6D theater, laboratory where visitors  both learn and have fun,  show garden and  shop that is selling special dinosaur concept objects.
 
Kozzy AVM Kozyatağı Kültür Merkezi is hosting Modern Dance Show on Saturday at 20:00.
 
GSUFEST’12, will take place at Ortaköy Campus of Galatasaray University on Friday and Saturday.

Spring Fesitval of Marmara University will take place at Göztepe Campus on Friday and Saturday.

Bazaar Auction will take place at Hazopulo Arcade, Istiklal Caddesi on Saturday at 15:00.

Engravings, Books, Collection Stamps and Efemera Auction of Burak Müzayedecilik will take place at Şafak Sokak, Nişantaşı on Sunday at 14:00.

Beylikdüzü Tüyap Fair Center is hosting Home Textile Fair on the weekend.
 
Classical
Istanbul State Opera and Ballet will perform Hürrem Sultan, two-act ballet  at Süreyya Opera House on Saturday at 16:00.

Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Erol Erdinç, will perform Youth Week and Spring Concert at Lütfi Kırdar Convention Center on Sunday at 19:00.

CRR Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Hasan Tura will accompany pianist Gülru Ensari at CRR Harbiye on  Friday at 20:00. Istanbul State Classical Turkish Music Chorus will perform on Sunday at 11:30.

Famous pianist/composer Fazıl Say will take stage at Fulya Sanat for “Turkan Saylan Art and Science Awards” ceremony on Friday at 20:00.

Jazz
Galata Nardis Jazz Club is hosting Imer Demirer Quartet  on Friday and İpek Dinç Band on Saturday at 22:30.

Eyüp Tamirane:
Morning Jazz Sessions – Çağıl Kaya Happy People on Sunday at 15:00.

Şenay Lambaoğlu Quartet will perform at  Kadıköy Living Room on  Saturday at 22:00.

Trebeka  will take stage at Istanbul Jazz Center, Ortaköy on Friday and Saturday at 21:30.

The concert of Jazz-Ist Quartet will take place at Caddebostan Kültür Merkezi on Friday at 20:00.

Rock/Pop/Ethnic/Alternative
Amon Tobin, the legendary electronic music producer/composer  will perform at Küçük Çiftlik Park, Dolmabahçe on Friday at 21:00.

7th Chill-Out Festival Istanbul will take place at Kemer Golf & Country Club on Sunday.  Baaba Maal, Alice Russell & Colombian band Combo Barbaro, Quantic, Jazzanova,  The Cuban Brothers, Montefiori Cocktail feat Amber Topaz,  Stealing Sheep and duo Mao Mak are the guests of the 12-hour-long festival. Tickets can be purchased through Biletix.

Oldies but Goldies Party is  at Babylon, Asmalımescit on Saturday at 22:00.

Beyoğlu Ghetto is hosting 7 Pink Floyds and 2 Princesses/Meat the Beetles on Friday at 22:30. Gevende will perform on Saturday at 22:30.

The concert of Kolpa  will take place  at Istanbul Live Performance Hall, Beyoğlu on Friday at 21:00. Marsis will perform on  Saturday at 21:00.

Fettah Can will perform at Jolly Joker, Beyoğlu on Friday at 22:00. Halil Sezai will take stage on Saturday at 22:00.

Perfume of Asia Minor will take stage  at Gitar Cafe, Sakızgülü Sokak on Friday at 21:00. The concert of Aşk ile Yoldaş  will take place on Saturday at 21:00.

Shaft Blues & Jazz Club, Serasker Caddesi-Kadıköy will be hosting Bluesaint and Indigo Ensembles on Friday at 22:30 and 01:00 respectively. Wassulu will take stage on Saturday at 20:30. The performance of The Flat Band will begin at 23:00Acil Servis ensemble will perform at 01:00. Örgü Ensemble will be on stage with Andalus Gypsy Sound  on Sunday at 23:30.

Grease Party with  Serkan ByCall will take place at Murphy’s Dance Bar, Kalamış on Friday at 22:00. Dance until dawn with DJ Emir at the Youth Party  on Saturday night. Latin Night with Montuno Dance Company is on Sunday.  

The performance of Yol Project is at Suadiye Monc Live on Friday and Saturday at 23:30. The concert of Ensemble 106 is on Sunday at 22:00.

Dolmabahçe Küçükçiftlik Park is hosting an international festival as part of 19 May Youth and Sports Day celebrations on Saturday at 19:00. Inti Illimani, Cherkezi Orchestra, Karmate and Grup Çığ are among the names to take stage. Anatolian Folk Dances will also be performed.
