Sand Sculpture Festival

Sand sculpture is a special ephemeral (temporary) type of art emerging recently. Only water and sand are used in creating sand sculptures that are in the context of alternative arts.
International Antalya Sand Sculpture Festival (SANDLAND), which is among the world’s largest sand sculpture events, welcomes its visitors for the 8th time in 2014.
This year 25 sculptors from 12 countries worked on the sculptures at Antalya's Lara Beach.
The festival highlights different themes each year and the theme for 2014 is “Empires 2”. More than 100 gigantic sand sculptures of Empires that left their marks in history and built by using 10000 tons of sand will be on display. Atilla the Hun, Carthaginian Hannibal, Odin, Khalid bin ab-Walid, Lionheart Richard, and Saladin Eyyubi, Qubbat As-Sakhrah and Taj Mahal are among these historical names and places
The festival area is colored with special audiovisual shows at night and can be visited every day between 10:00 and 23:00 until November 30, 2014.
